CEREC is a CAD/CAM system for full ceramic restorations specially designed for the respective patient, which is applicable in one session. This system that operates with the technology-supported design and production principles is based on the formation of prosthesis (Zirconium – Lamina – E-Max) and Inlay/Onlay filling materials from ceramic blocks with the help of an internal camera capable of taking three-dimension optic measurements.

CEREC ADVANTAGES

1- SHORTER TREATMENT PERIOD (ONE-VISIT DENTISTRY)

This CAD CAM system allows for the applications in one session under clinic environment and, make it possible to complete the dental treatments in a short period of time. This prevents loss of time for both the dentist and the patient.

2- TRADITIONAL MEASUREMENTS ARE NO LONGER USED

This CAD CAM has completely eliminated the traditional measurement methods. 3D measurements are taken with the help of the digital/optic cameras. It provides advantages for the patients suffer from nausea and/or retching reflex during the old measurement methods. Further, the digital measurement procedures minimizes the risk of injection that is higher during the traditional measurements.

3- ERROR RATE IS MINIMIZED

This CAD CAM system reduces the error rate during the measurements to zero. Since the biggest development has been achieved on the CAM part, this allows for the production of high-compliance prosthesis with the minimum error rate.

TREATMENT PROCESS WITH THE CEREC SYSTEM

There is a working principle of the CAD/CAM system that consists of the following 4 stages:

1. An intraoral digital measurement is taken with the help of the optic laser camera (CAM) and, this measurement is directly transferred to the computer, where the camera is connected.

2. After the measurement is converted by the computer into a 3-dimension image, the physician prepares the smile design that is the most suitable for the tooth. Thanks to the ‘BIOGENERIC” infrastructure, the CEREC system is capable of predicting the most suitable design in consistence with the original teeth of the patient. The dentist is free to proceed with this prediction and, changes may be made as requested by the dentist or the patient.

3. After the smile design is completed, the most suitable color block is chosen and, the teeth start to be cut to obtain the required tooth form with the help of the CAD system.

4. And then the prosthesis (Zirconium – E-max – Laminate) or Inlay/ Onlay filling material is polished and, the technologic oven, that is the part of the CEREC system, is used to complete the finishes.
